RELTA Test Changes – Official Announcement
RELTA Test Changes – Official Announcement
From August 11th 2008, changes are being made to RELTA for Pilots - Speaking and Listening. Details of
the changes are outlined below and are also available with a revised Practice Test at http://relta.org/. All
pilots who will be undertaking RELTA after August 11th need to be informed of the changes outlined below.
Please refer pilots to the website to assist with preparation for RELTA
Test changes: RELTA SPEAKING
Sections 1 and 2 of the test will remain unchanged. Section 3 will take the following format:
Section 3
Part 1
Conversation related to Section 2 (non routine situation)
Part 2
Conversation regarding issues arising from aviation related pictures
Part 3
Interview about pilot’s experience, ideas and opinions
Why is Section 3 of the RELTA Speaking test being changed?
The changed Section 3 has fewer questions on a wider range of topics to provide pilots with more
opportunities for discussion. The introduction of pictures in Part 2 will provide a visual context to enable
candidates to discuss aviation related issues. A broader range of topics can be introduced using this
method to present the new subject. The changes to the test have been designed to elicit language
responses from candidates.
Does this change the way the Speaking test will be assessed?
No, RELTA Speaking will continue to be assessed according to the ICAO Rating Scale.
Test changes: RELTA LISTENING
.
All sections of the Listening Test will be heard once only.
.
All sections of the Listening test contain 10 multiple choice questions.
